Statement

Textures and patterns, these are rhythms of me, my language is in the stitches I create, translated into a calmness and stillness, a calmness I need and sometimes crave.

As an artist I work in quiet corners of delight, through the repetition nature of folding and hand stitching, contemplative in its process becomes a joyful act of living. It is a beautiful way of passing on this delight through my work.

Bio

Born in New Zealand, Liz Sofield moved to Brisbane in 2004 with her husband. Trained in both interior and textile design, Liz established her artistic practice whilst living in a remote, mining town in Western Australia, for a short period of time in 2014. Liz found that quality art supplies were not readily available, so she turned to her textile making skills to create delicate artworks using simply paper and thread.
