Crochet Porcelain

Liz’s ceramics marries clay techniques with soft sculpture forms of crochet. These intricate porcelain pieces, are crafted by first crocheting shapes in cotton, then are dipped into liquid clay and painted with layers of clay to form the outer shell, around the textile before firing in a kiln.

This mix of traditional techniques is contrasted with the texture of ceramics to create elegant sculptures. To the eye appear soft to the touch but not, thus a playful approaching to ceramics.
